Shopping day in the heart of Chioggia

Not a simple shopping street, but a real open-air lounge, where the tradition of craft shops and the charm of the surrounding historic buildings combine with the modernity of the many shops, restaurants, bars and taverns along the street: we are talking about Corso del Popolo, the beating heart of the city, where locals and tourists meet to fully experience the colours, scents and flavours of Chioggia.

Start your day in Corso del Popolo by letting yourself be carried away by the unmistakable scent of freshly baked bread and enter one of our bakeries to discover and enjoy bossolà, papini, bissiole (traditional biscuits) and many other chioggian specialties.

Then continue your walk among the multitude of clothing and shoe shops for young and old, refined jewelers and perfumeries, toy and home furnishing shops, bookstores and stationeries, souvenirs and much more: you are spoiled for choice thanks to the wide range of products suitable for all tastes and budgets.

Shopping opportunities are further multiplied on Thursday morning, the day of the weekly market, where hundreds of colourful stalls display all kinds of goods and foods, hawking and inviting the thousands of people who, "el zioba" (Thursday), flock along Corso del Popolo, to buy their wares.

Strolling among shops, taverns and restaurants

It's time for a regenerating break: cool off with a good artisanal ice cream on the go or enjoy a spritz accompanied by delicious cicchetti sitting outdoors at one of the many bars and taverns in the centre.

After this short stop, you just have to go along the side streets of Corso del Popolo, to come across pretty craft shops and local product shops, where you can choose your memory of Chioggia, among models of wooden boats, fans, refined lace or the famous “chioggiotte” terracotta pipes.
Near the Palazzo Granaio, you will find the colourful fish market and nearby greengrocers, who loudly proffer their seasonal produce.

Let’s be honest: lunchtime is approaching and all this shopping has made you very hungry!
Take a seat in one of the typical restaurants in Corso del Popolo or along its side streets, to relax while enjoying renowned dishes based on fresh fish with a unique flavour, or continue your walk accompanying it with the finger food delights of the inimitable chioggian taverns and cicchetterie.
